Beautiful trail

PS this is the Mississippi River going out of Lake Bemidji, Bemidji, which I have been told is Ojibway for lake with river cross through. Not an Ojibway expert either.

There coordinates for this? Going to be in the area this Monday

Can you hike on this trail? Any camping spots?

Lori Shannon!

I have been a regular on this trail since 2001. September 2016 I was going by here on my bike and baby turtles had hatched and were crawling out of the sand exactly under where this is sign is located. They were trying to cross the trail, and they were pretty tiny and slow, so I helped them. I didn’t want to touch them, but bikes, and roller blades and runners where going by and these babies were pretty slow and camouflaged. I’m no turtle biologist, but ever since then I have checked to for signs of more eggs being laid here or hatched. It seems like they come back and lay eggs in the same place over and over. All there was, was a small hole they had poked up from a under the sand. So I’m hoping if there are/were any turtle eggs laid here that they have already made it on their way. If not would seem doubtful they would have the strength or know how to dig themselves out from under your sign. I’ve seen turtles laying eggs by the street bridge over the river, always in their same spots. I don’t know long the sign has been there. 😞 Maybe next time. 🐢🐢🐢🐢🐢 It was only 5 or 6 that I saw, but they had already started on their way, so it could have been more.
